Born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on December 18th, 1963, William Bradley Pitt has transformed himself into the most desired man in the world. Perhaps nobody in film history has evoked so many women in interviews to say "I'd only do a nude scene with Brad Pitt" or something to that effect.
Brad comes from a strongly Baptist family and was raised in Springfield, Missouri. His father, Bill, is a trucking company manager, and his mother, Jane, is a high school counselor. He has a sister, Julie (Jules),and a brother, Doug (Digger).
After graduating from Kickapoo High, he enrolled in the University of Missouri to major in advertising. However, a few credits short of graduation, Brad set out to fulfill his dream of becoming an actor. He told his parents that he was going to the Art Center college of Design in Pasadena, but in reality he was working odd jobs like wearing a chicken costume for El Pollo Loco and driving strippers around in a limo for bachelor parties.
He didn't have to embarrass himself too long. He began getting work as an actor in "Dallas" and "Cutting Class." But it was his small part in "Thelma & Louise" that jump started Pitt's hunky career. Shortly after the release of "Thelma & Louise," People magazine released an issue proclaiming Pitt the "Sexiest Man Alive." However, Brad had other ideas - and they involved acting. He wasn't content to remain just another pretty face, and proved his talent and ability in "A River Runs Through It" and "Interview With A Vampire" co-starring Tom Cruise.
He followed with 1995's "Seven," where he met co-star Gwenyth Paltrow. The two had a highly publicized courtship, engagement and finally break-up that stretched over a two and a half year period. In fact Pitt's love life has never been one of privacy. He is currently dating Friends star Jennifer Aniston. 1995 also brought him his first Oscar nomination for his portrayal of the crazed asylum inmate in "12 monkeys."
"Seven Years in Tibet" may be one of his greatest works, however, Pitt was banned from the country of China for the role. Brad's desire to distance himself from the pretty boy image may have caused him to jump on the script for "Fight Club." Although his performance was once again impeccable, Brad has received mounds of criticism for the movies graphic violence and disturbing message.
Brad is scheduled to star with Julia Roberts in "The Mexican" to be released in 2001. Says producer Walter Parkes "Brad will play a hit-man who is sent to Mexico to retrieve a priceless hand-made gun. Julia is his girlfriend. It's a Coen Brothers-style movie about the irrationality of love."
