Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Amy Acker is the daughter of a lawyer and a housewife. An acting major at Southern Methodist University, Amy acted in several college theater productions. Upon graduation she worked in Wisconsin and New York before winning the role of "Fred" on "Angel" (1999/I).

amy acker began making the world smile when she was born one December 5th in Dallas, Texas. Once basic education was accounted for and her high school diploma was received, Acker attended Southern Methodist University from 1996-1999. In the 1996 Rotunda yearbook, it mentions that she roomed with the university president's daughter in her freshman year. In 1998, Amy made her acting debut at SMU. Throughout that year and the year following, she played a vast variety of roles, including Seta, Beast on the Moon at Stage West; Terry, Balm in Gilead; Isabella, Measure for Measure; Chorus, The Greeks; Christina, Fefu and her Friends; Anna, Apparent Wind all for Southern Methodist University. In 1999, Amy received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from SMU in 1999 and was nominated for best leading actress in the Leon Rabin Awards for "Therese Raquin." Now out of school, she continued to persue her acting career. Less than a year later, in December 2000, she began dating actor Joseph Scarimbolo - you may recognize him from "Abandon" with Benjamin Bratt. Born and raised in Dallas, this Texas native studied ballet, modern and jazz dancing for 13 years before heading to Southern Methodist University to study fine arts. While in college, amy acker discovered a love for acting and enrolled in theater classes, ultimate graduating with a B.F.A. Soon, she landed a pilot for MTV and moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dream. While the pilot didn’t go to series, Acker next appeared in several independent films, most notably "Groom Lake," written and directed by William Shatner. After a reading for "Angel," she nailed the recurring role of Fred. When she’s not working, Acker enjoys traveling, reading, skiing, horseback riding and learning to play golf. She relaxes by practicing yoga. Amy currently lives in Los Angeles
